AGM 2007 Our annual AGM Meeting on Wednesday June 20, 2007 met with great success and fun was had by all. We honoured students, tutors and volunteers, for their tremendous effort, tireless work, outstanding accomplishments and total dedication.
Our Guest Speaker Harvey Taylor form The Kitchener Record, told a very touching story about his father, who sounds like a very special man.
The AGM committee did a wonderful job decorating and setting up the hall, the office staff worked right up until the 11 hour preparing the documentation for our meeting, including certificates of appreciation.
We saw some Board Members leave us and three new Board Members where elected, our finances are in great shape and we are looking forward to the upcoming year.
We would like to thank the generous people who donated gifts for our raffles and draws and below is a brief recap of our meeting.

Executive 's Report
"To succeed, we must first believe we can"
Michael Korda
All of us here tonight believe we can succeed… We believe what we do makes a difference personally and professionally to ourselves, our learners and our community. Our learners are here because they have taken that step that allows them to make a difference in their lives at home, at work and in the community. Our volunteers are here because they know the gift of their time contributes to the success of their learner and because they believe they can make a difference. Our Board of Directors is here because they believe that literacy is critical to the success of our community and the services we provide are one of the keys to that success.
Tonight we recognize and celebrate the successes of our organization, our learners and our tutors. We measure our success by the achievements of all of you. You have found the key that opens the door to new opportunities. The words of Bernadette Devlin are reflected in every learner who walked through our doors * Yesterday I dared to struggle. Today I dare to win.*
Thank you to The Literacy Group team who continuously strives to find better ways to serve our learners and volunteers. Our team consists of Cathy O*Brien and Nancy Cowan in Cambridge, Susan Bray, Linda Brooks and Joyce Baker in Kitchener. Kathleen Janzen (Meggs) our Rural Coordinator was an integral part of our team and helped us develop a vital rural program. She has left us to pursue other interests and will be missed.
Thank you to our Board of Directors who are the leaders of our organization; they have provided guidance and supported me over this past year.
Respectfully submitted,
Carol Risidore
